Sir Francis Ronalds (1788-1873) was an Englishman who started his work with electricity in 1814 and two years after, had a telegraph designed. Even though his invention worked, the authorities weren’t impressed because it was very slow. As a consequence, he ended up quitting his idea of taking his creation further. However, in later years, his model helped W. Cooke and C. Wheatstone to pursue the development of the telegraph. He was recognized by the initiation of a photography method that recorded meteorological information in 1843. In 1870, he was knighted for his scientific participation in the telegraph. Finally, he spent his last years working on his library, which contains over 1500 scientific books.
