Instant Camera

Instant Camera

In 1923 an intelligent man named Samuel Shlafrock was the first to create what is called today an instant camera. The machine combines a camera and a portable dark room into a single unit. Many years passed by and an American scientist named Edwin Land improved upon Shlafrock’s design. This new type of camera could generate pictures immediately after striking a pose because it was loaded with a self-developing film. This technology appeared on the market in 1948. The model was named Polaroid Model 95, which was the first instant picture device to be sold. It was also known as the Land camera after its creator Edwin Land.  In order to provide a picture instantly, the Model 95 used chemical processes to produce finished positive prints from the exposed negatives in under a minute. The most famous and successful Polaroid camera on the market was called the Model 20 Swinger of 1965.
