The First Camera: Ibn al-Haitham

Many people thought that light leaves the eye, rather than entering it. The first person to realize this was the 10th-century Muslim mathematician, astronomer and physicist Ibn al-Haitham. He was the inventor of the first pin-hole camera. The word camera comes from the Arab word “gamara” which means dark or private room.  He noticed that the smaller the hole, the better the picture, this instigated him to invent the first Camera Obscura.
