Zipper

by Amanda

Now-a-days we can find this item on everything from clothing to tents. The zipper was invented in 1913 by the inventor of the sewing machine – Elias Howe, a Canadian inventor. I believe this invention is very practical and quite frankly taken advantage of. Our modern day zipper goes unnoticed because it is simply an article that the world’s population has grown accustomed to as they are too young to remember a world that lacked such an inanimate object. This little contraption helps us not only keep our jeans on without falling off but also allows us to securely shut our backpacks and purses. The only downfall on zippers is that if the zipper is damaged, the garment or article that the zipper was on is now broken and cannot be used.
